Chapter 667 Buildings
Indeed, a thousand and ten orbs of Dao Stones were still there, including 100,000 PACTs.
PACT was a form of cryptocurrency that could be traded for items in a mysterious cash shop, which offered game-like privileges and items, such as Permanent Backpack, Permanent Adventurer Guild Pass, and Permanent Merchant Guild Pass. Consumable items, teleport scrolls, cosmetic items, fashion clothes, and pets were also sold there, but they were useless to Miaomiao.
However, 100 PACT could be converted to one Dao Stone. Miaomiao could convert everything to 1,000 extra Dao Stones to increase his advantage.
Pangu continued explaining.
\'Although we\'re giving every King 1,000 Dao Stones every day, they can earn more if they manage to find the unique Divine Qi, Mithril Crystals, and random airdrops in the wilderness. Kings may build Refineries and Smithy sites to convert the natural resources into Dao Stones or PACTs. Meanwhile, I and Mu-Nyang will randomly spawn supply airdrops to the medium continent every day to add spice to the game! Therefore, you should pay attention to strategic resources and random airdrops to take advantage of resources.\'
Miaomiao and Ma Moxi raised their eyebrows. The more they listened, the more they thought of StarCraft. However, a few things didn\'t seem right.
First, all factions came with their top soldiers. They could easily attack their rivals right away, so they didn\'t need to waste their time getting random resources.
That came to their second doubt. How could buildings make a difference when the war could be decided by military might and strength? How could a building affect their combat prowess?
And thirdly, in games, they needed resources to build troops. They already had troops, so what would they need them for?
\'I will now introduce key buildings that all Kings can build. First, it is the usual Pylon Tower.\'
BOOM
A tall tower with a floating blue crystal manifested from nothingness. It generated Life Providence Qi to its surrounding area, and a semi-transparent dome was visible.
\'As I have explained, you will need this building to build your base in the medium continent and your homeworld. Of course, if you\'re creative enough, you can build them on your rival\'s soil to expand your territory there.\'
BOOM
Another tower appeared next to the pylon tower. However, it was much smaller.
The pylon tower was like a mystical tall altar with a floating colossus crystal. It was a lot larger than Siren City\'s Pylon Tower as its height was roughly 10,000 feet, trekking beyond the cloud.
As for the other tower, it looked the same as the tower of Isengard. As soon as it was built, a circular set of 100-meter tall city walls appeared, protecting everything within a 10-kilometer radius. On the top of the tower, a modern radar-like disk let out a high-pitch sonar wave.
DING
Suddenly, the grassland inside the protective wall changed color. A dozen caves, holes, and mountains appeared and leaked purple gas into the air. Countless mountains of blue crystals also appeared as if they had been there since the beginning.
\'This tower is also another strategic building. We call it "Radar", which can search and detect hidden natural resources in the vicinity within a 10-kilometer radius behind the city wall. Every hour, the Kings and their assistants can operate the building to set up new search beacons to find other natural resources beyond the wall. Every force can only build one, and it cannot be rebuilt or repaired!\'
Everyone\'s expression turned solemn. They understood how important this radar tower was.
If it couldn\'t be rebuilt or repaired, this radar would be the heart and core of their faction in this game.
RUMBLE
The radar building suddenly dissipated into dust. The mountains of resources vanished along with the radar.
\'This is just a demonstration, so I\'ll remove the radar tower first. Of course, the strategic resource sites that had spawned just now are also an example.\'
"…"
\'Now, this is the last common building that every faction can build.\'
RUMBLE
A pyramid appeared. It looked like an Aztec altar, where the ancient barbarians sacrificed living humans to random aliens or gods.
\'That is a sacrificial altar.\'
Everybody thought in their mind, "Duh."
\'Every force can build only one of these, but you can always rebuild or repair it. Every force may use this building to increase one of their people\'s cultivation base by a major realm, regardless of foundation and restrictions!\'
"!!!"
Now, the listeners were excited. They gazed at Miaomiao as if they were commanding him with their eyes to build this building first.
But nothing good came for free. It was called the SACRIFICIAL ALTAR for a reason.
\'To use this building, you must sacrifice living people on this altar. You may use your prisoners or your representatives as sacrifices. Of course, the price for increasing one\'s strength varies, depending on who is getting the promotion. For example, a regular deity only needs one deity as a sacrificial lamb. A pseudo sage will need 10 deities or one fellow pseudo sage as a sacrifice. A sage requires 100 deities or 10 pseudo sages. And so on!\'
As soon as the words came out, the killing intent of various cultivators soared. They looked at their friends and strangers without hiding their ulterior motives.
Fortunately, Mu-Nyang was around. He lightly meowed.
MUNYAAAAA
"!!!"
Just like that, everybody who had emitted killing intent earlier collapsed to the ground and covered their bleeding ears.
\'Ideally, you should use this sacrificial altar to kill your enemies and raise your combat strength. However, it is also wise to remove some of your injured or useless combatants to strengthen your forces. However you use it, it\'s up to you. Oh, by the way, you cannot sacrifice friendly non-representatives, such as sentinels, familiars, or newly born soldiers from your King\'s unique facilities. This is to prevent exploitation and abuses. Of course, you can still sacrifice every captive even though they are sentinels or familiars of your foes.\'
Hearing the explanation, Miaomiao and his wives were relieved. At least, they wouldn\'t be targeted by greedy allies.
\'As for the rest of the buildings, only your King knows what they can build. After all, everybody pursues unique Daos and principles. This will be the variable of your war game.\'
Again, after hearing Pangu\'s reminder, everybody gazed at Miaomiao, questioning him with their eyes.
Ma Moxi didn\'t hide his curiosity, "What can you build, master?"
"… Stuff," Miaomiao opened his system menu and checked his Kingdom Building System and Necromancy System of Liu Bian.
"Stuff? Can you be specific?"
"I\'ll list everything for everybody to see. Let\'s hear what Pangu has in store for us first."
"Oh, right. Sure."
Hearing that Miaomiao would show the list of buildings to them, all representatives of Mu-Nyang was satisfied. They looked away from Miaomiao, paying attention to the voice of Pangu.
\'Next up, it\'s the forced event rule. Well, you see. Since every faction can build their buildings, you might have a silly thought and want to cozy your rivals or come up with a let-us-all-be-friends-and-say-no-to-war-treaty shit. Every ten days, the game system will randomly choose 100 representatives of every faction and teleport them to an isolated battleground continent for a free-for-all style survival game. The survivors of the game will receive myth-grade artifacts, Dao Stones, PACTs, and a Silver Qi to retain your memory in your next life!\'
Wei Yuan clicked her tongue. She had planned to negotiate with the other factions for a truce to extend the destruction date of this universe. Unfortunately, Pangu had already come up with a countermeasure.
Meanwhile, Chaos Demon Gods that came with Mu-Nyang let out soft laughter. They seemed to be looking forward to fight in this battle royal game.
\'Now that I\'ve explained the basics, the rest is up to you participants to explore. Oh, I almost forgot to remind you. PLAYERS CAN GET STRONGER BY KILLING THEIR FRIENDS AND ENEMIES! Everybody comes here as a deity at first, but who knows what they might do when they become as strong as a Great Dao Sage! Well, good luck people!\'
\'Oh, and Mu-Nyang. It\'s time for you to leave your children alone. NO CHEATING, YOU DUMB CAT!\'
Mu-Nyang looked up and clicked his tongue. He bellowed.
"I KNOW, MUNYA!"
The sacrificial altar and the pylon tower vanished as Pangu ceased the demonstration. The grassland returned to normal, and Mu-Nyang teleported away.
The participants of Mu-Nyang\'s faction looked at each other in awkwardness. But in the end, they turned to Miaomiao, who was designated as their King.
Ma Moxi reminded Miaomiao.
"Can you show us what you can build? We might be able to give opinions and plan what kind of structures we need to build first."
"Okay."
Miaomiao didn\'t hide anything. He summoned a massive metal plate, using his Metal Providence Qi. Then, he wrote the list with his finger.
…
Pylon Tower (500 Dao Stones)
Basic Building. Create Protection Dome for other structures.
NOTE: Must be built before building other structures.
…
Radar Tower (1,000 Dao Stones)
Can search for natural resources in the wilderness.
NOTE: Cannot be repaired or rebuilt.
…
Sacrificial Altar (10,000 Dao Stones)
Can sacrifice your enemies or your representatives to boost one of your people\'s cultivation rank by one major realm.
…
Divine Gas Refinery (2,000 Dao Stones)
Can be built on top of Divine Qi caves, mountains, and holes. Generate Dao Stones for the owning faction.
…
Mithril Ore Smithy (2,000 Dao Stones)
Can be built next to any Mithril Crystal Mountain. The structure owner may convert harvested Mithril Crystals here into PACT.
…
Command Center (5,000 Dao Stones)
Can recruit mechanical workers to automatically harvest Mithril Crystals or construct buildings of your faction. Can be captured by a rival\'s forces.
…
Unnamed Immortal Sect (10,000 Dao Stones)
Establish a sect of your faction\'s King. Can exchange PACT or Dao Stones into immortal soldiers to fight for your faction.
…
Miaomiao stopped listing the buildings for now as the other structures were locked at the moment. He needed to build the unnamed immortal sect and the command center first before he could unlock the advanced facilities.
Everybody gazed at the list and the price of the buildings. Then, they shook their head.
Everything was too expensive! They would receive only 1,000 Dao Stones each day, and they needed all these expensive buildings.
Still, many of them frowned at the effect of each building. They didn\'t think highly of the immortal sect and the command center.
One of the Chaos Demon Gods turned toward Miaomiao.
"Build the pylon tower first and Sacrificial Altar next so that we can get stronger!"
Miaomiao narrowed his eyes as he disagreed. He thought of this event as an RTS game, and he needed to generate income first before they could go to war.
"Pylon Tower, then, Radar Tower, Refinery, Smithy, Command Center, Sacrificial Altar, and Immortal Sect last."
The Chaos Demon Gods of Mu-Nyang weren\'t happy with Miaomiao\'s decision.
"Look, junior. We\'re the main fighting force. You must listen to us. Build the Altar first!"
Miaomiao tried to be logical.
"Listen senior. If we build the altar first, we will have to wait 11 days. Instead of waiting 11 days while doing nothing, we could have beelined our productions to the refinery first. Then, we will generate more Dao Stones as our daily bonus income. Although I didn\'t put the detail here, my system shows that we can earn an extra 1,000 Dao Stones per refinery per day! If we wait two days, we will earn the 2,000 stones investment back, and we can generate more income in the future!"
The Chaos Demon God didn\'t give up.
"All buildings are pointless. Aside from the altar, I don\'t see why we should be building them at all."
Miaomiao sighed and shook his head. He created another metal boulder and listed the advanced buildings for the Chaos Demon God to see.
…
Meanwhile, Hongjun, who was the King Piece of Heavenly Dao Universe, forced every representative to sit down while he briefed them on his plans.
"We shall rush the altar first. As for the Dao Stone resources, we can plunder it from the Players!"
Jade Sage grinned, "Do you know something that we don\'t know?"
Hongjun laughed, "Pangu told me that Players were born with PACT and Dao Stones. By killing them, we can rob their stones and build our empire."
"But aren\'t Players our ally?"
