Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 45 Special Trait

Zayn watched the skinny Human Spirit following the command it had received.

It grabbed its shoulder viciously and tore at it with all its might.

He sensed that the Spirit\'s soul particles were quickly drained due to the \'damage\' it sustained by trying to tear off its arm and nodded in satisfaction.

"That\'s enough."

Zayn needed the skinny Human Spirit and he couldn\'t waste any soul particles to help it regrow its arm. That was not what he truly wanted to test, either way.

"The Soul hates me but the Spirit is forced to obey and stay loyal to me…that\'s good…the emotions to overwhelm me will allow it to grow even faster in an attempt to outgrow my control!" He mumbled while continuing to nod his head.

One of the reasons why Zayn chose to materialize Phillip\'s Soul in the form of a Human Spirit was that Phillip hated him before already. That hatred was much more intense now and it could be used by the skinny Human Spirit to fuel it, allowing it to grow stronger as quickly as possible.

It may be a little dangerous since the skinny Human Spirit would always attempt to kill him the moment he was to lose control but that was actually worth the effort since the skinny Human Spirit\'s talent was actually above average.

Just like Phillip\'s Stigma had suggested, his talent was nothing to scoff at. The semi-transparent color of the skinny Human Spirit was a light green tone, indicating his talent in the purest form.

There was also something else about Phillip\'s Spirit that Zayn wanted to test out but that would have to wait a bit.

He had to finish one step at a time, otherwise, everything would turn into a chaotic battlefield!

With that in mind, Zayn ended up expanding the small portion of the empty page in the Grimoire of the Ancient to fit the skinny Human Spirit inside it. He allowed the Grimoire of the Ancient to devour enough soul particles for two Human Spirits and two Sparrow Spirits to fit inside comfortably.

As for the remaining soul particles that were tightly secured inside his heart, Zayn chose to spend everything to strengthen the hollow soulframe of his first Soulring.

He had more than enough soul particles to strengthen it and even to fill it a little, which took him more than half a day. Looking outside the window, Zayn saw the last rays of sunlight that shone through the window.

He was not only hungry but he was also a little bit flustered at how much time he had spent in his room sleeping through the day.

Zayn didn\'t even know what happened to the Innkeeper of the Adventurer Inn, his wife, the other employees, let alone the drunkards. All of that was something he had to find out later.

As for now, he just wanted to go to sleep again rather than leave the town at night to find some food. His body was in need of nutrition after it was reinforced by all the soul particles he had absorbed during the last two days.

However, his need for nutrition had to wait for a little longer to prevent attracting too much suspicion from the people he may encounter. Considering that he was extremely unlucky, Zayn didn\'t want to take the risk!

He didn\'t know what the situation outside the room looked like and he really didn\'t want to eat the tasteless food of this place either. Zayn figured that he was getting picky with his food after he got to know what truly delicious food tasted. The Adventurer Inn was simply too good to be true...

Thus, he could only suffer miserably, well deserved at that!

\'My Soulring is slowly coming to existence…I\'m getting closer to finishing the first…\' Zayn told himself while issuing a deep sigh.

The soul particles had been far from enough to finish his first Soulring but he was slowly getting closer to his actual goal, which was all that mattered.

Thus, he deserved to get some more sleep since he didn\'t know what would happen in the following days!

When Zayn was about to move the skinny Human Spirit inside the Grimoire of the Ancient he noticed something that had attracted his attention earlier already.

"Walk over to the window and come back to me, slowly!" He gave the order to confirm his suspicion, and the Human Spirit did immediately as instructed.

It walked over to the window where the sunrays shone onto the Spirit before it walked back to the part of the room where the sun couldn\'t reach it.

\'Is that a special trait?\' Zayn wondered as he realized that the presence of Phillip\'s Spirit grew fainter when it stepped outside the light.

\'Will its presence grow even fainter in the darkness? If so…can it see in the darkness?\'

Many questions flashed through his mind and Zayn intended to test the Spirit\'s special trait before going to sleep.

"Take this cloak and walk through the town for the next hour. Show me the memories of what you saw once you\'re back!" He ordered while handing the Spirit his black cloak.

The skinny Human Spirit took the cloak and promptly left afterward while Zayn started to meditate a little.

He summoned the Herculean Human Spirit and the two Sparrow Spirits that started to absorb the soul particles from the surrounding area as well.

That way, Zayn once again realized that his talent was nothing special. Zayn knew that he had below-average talent but he gave his best to absorb and annex more soul particles from within his immediate surroundings.

An hour passed in which he didn\'t even absorb two soul particles. The herculean Human Spirit absorbed more than four soul particles, while the Sparrow Spirits had the worst talent, absorbing merely one soul particle in an hour.

At the end of the day, Zayn understood that someone who possessed more soul particles attracted more soul particles from within his surroundings naturally, like a magnet would attract iron.

That was also why he felt like his talent was advancing even though that was actually not the case. His talent was the same, it was just that his progression had accelerated quite a bit ever since he had absorbed so many soul particles from Soul Wisps.

The Sparrow Spirits would have never been able to absorb a soul particle within an hour either, yet, abandoning the restrictions of their mortal body and having absorbed more soul particles from Zayn, they were naturally able to break through their former racial and mortal limit.

As for people with great talent, they would always be faster than others when it came to meditating.

This included the skinny Human Spirit whose talent was better than Zayn\'s and his Spirits\' talent.

"Where is–..." Zayn mumbled as he noticed that his newest Spirit had yet to return. He was beginning to wonder where his newest companion had wandered to when the door to his room opened.

A being, whose presence was barely perceptible entered his room and the corners of Zayn\'s lips curled upward.

"Show me your memories!"
